About Us

Mac-Tire of Skye Pipes and Drums (pronounced "mack-tea-ray") was founded in August 2007 to provide free quality music lessons to students wanting to learn the great highland bagpipe or Scottish style drumming, and to perform locally to increase appreciation for the instruments.

What We Do

We participate in events such as the Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival, the Edgewood Celtic Festival, the St. Andrew's Society Robert Burns Supper, the Aztec Celtic Festival, as well as other gatherings.

The band is available for private events, such as graduations, weddings, funerals, and parties. Please see our Hire the Band page for more information.

Why "of Skye"?

The Isle of Skye is the Island off the west coast of Scotland. The band values the ancient stories of the most famous McCrimmon pipers who descended from Skye. We wanted to include this history in the name of our organization.
